The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission processes on average 20,000 FOIA requests each year. To handle the number of requests it receives, the EEOC established a legacy FOIA solution several years ago. Unfortunately, the EEOC’s solution had several critical issues that needed to be addressed.
The legacy solution was out of date and was difficult to use from a usability perspective. There was frustration on difficulties of implementing small changes, like creating labels, dropdowns, etc. Each of these changes had to be completed by the product vendor. Additionally, the application had several bugs that were not being fixed. Due to the bugs, the EEOC had to implement workarounds that weren’t functioning well. Despite having a large list of bugs, the EEOC did not receive product updates for the bugs they were experiencing.
With these challenges in mind, ArkCase FOIA was selected to be the best solution for EEOC. ArkCase FOIA provided a quick option for EEOC to replace their FOIA legacy system with improved technology, flexibility and better usability. The accelerated time to go-live and extendibility of the product were also strong benefits that appealed to EEOC. Additionally, ArkCase FOIA provided ease of use as it pertained to many product changes such as labels, dropdowns, correspondences, and other configurable features. The idea of having configurable control for many of the product features readily available from the admin user interface especially appealed to the organization. Any other FOIA solution replacement would have taken twice the amount of time and cost five times more for the implementation cost.
Currently with the implementation of ArkCase FOIA, the EEOC has seen increased efficiency with its current processes. Additionally, the EEOC can now adapt easily with ever changing laws in the government space with the extensibility and flexibility of the ArkCase product.
